Here's a quick version of my thoughts: It has extra keys that make the plus and zero keys the size of most other keys instead of their typical double size, the keys are harder to press than your typical laptop keys, and there's a disconcerting warning about lead. However, it's thin, looks nice and simple, has keys that feel more like those on a standard keyboard, and, most importantly, is a keypad! I like it a lot, and it's worlds better than any way of entering numbers on a numpadless laptop keyboard. And now, the gory details:
All the usual keys are there, but the designer seemed to think it would be a good idea to stick in two extra keys, cutting two others down to standard size in the process. If you get used to using the new backspace key instead of flipping your hand over to the main keyboard for all your error correction needs, I think it could be quite helpful. However, it takes over the minus key's usual spot, forcing it down to where the top half of the plus key should be. This took me a bit of getting used to, but if you're used to Mac keyboards, you'll be right at home. The other new key has only two purposes: to enter three zeros with a single keystroke, and to replace the right half of the normal zero/insert key. I don't think either purpose is very good, but hey.
Next up is that lead warning that another reviewer mentioned. It was a bit disconcerting, but I'm lazily hoping it's a warning along the lines of cancerous things in California and nut-free candy made in factories that use peanuts. But if you're concerned about this sort of thing, it's probably better to save yourself the trouble and do without.
As far as the general look and feel are concerned, I really like this thing. The tops of the keys only sit about 2cm above the surface the pad's sitting on, yet they depress about as far as a full-sized keyboard's would. If you've gotten into laptop keyboard mode, they feel like they require a lot of extra effort to press, but they feel pretty good otherwise. The only real oddity with the key pressing is that the numlock key doesn't toggle unless you let go of it within half a second. I have no idea what purpose that could serve, but there you go. The whole thing feels solidly built, and it doesn't have bulky protrusions and LCD screens all over the place. The two USB ports up top (which are great for my 3-port laptop) hold on very well to the devices you feed them. I usually have a wireless mouse receiver hooked up to one, and I've had no problems after attaching a bluetooth receiver or a printer to the remaining port. Other reviewers have had power-related problems, though, so if you have really hungry devices, plug them directly into your computer instead, if you can. Finally, it is a corded device, and the cord is about two and a half feet long. Plenty long unless you intend to use it as a remote control or want to use it with a desktop computer that's not on your desktop. I usually plug it into the left side of my laptop with the cord running around the back, and there's lots of slack left in it.
That's all I can think of. If you need a keypad and want something thin and clean-looking, this should do the trick.

This mini calculator/keypad may be OK for occasional use, but if you are looking for something to use everyday, stay away from this one. The thing goes to sleep constantly - to save battery power of your laptop I suppose - but this feature is very annoying if you use a 10-key a lot. The device also constantly freezes up - I find I have to stick the end of a paper clip into the 'reset' hole on the back of the device several times a week. The keys are also stiff - you have to hit them hard, which makes it easy to miss numbers if you are typing quickly. I am ready to throw mine away and try something else.

USB Mini Number Pad Keyboard for PC Laptop Notebook Review

'Under four dollars! What a steal!' I thought to myself when my brother showed me this.
Well. I found out why that is. The thing is worthless. One of the keys on it works. ONE. That would be the / key. I even just typed that slash mark in with it. The rest are of no use whatsoever, unless you count the NumLock key turning on a tiny red light on the top.
But it's not even worth the trouble of returning it, as S&H costs are my burden, and shipping this thing out cost a full dollar more than the item itself did.
Buyer Beware. If the price is too low, there may be a reason.

Convenience is the name of the game. This keypad is much easier to use than the row of numbers above your notebook's keyboard, and the nifty "one-piece" silicone design is dustproof and can be wiped down with sanitizer wipes. What's more, the USB cable is retractable, to keep it out the way when you're not using it.

Layout:
The usb keypad is good for the price. I am used to the desktop numeric keypads, so the key arrangements feels weird. This mainly applies for the addition key. It takes up 2 key spaces on the desktop keyboards, the second key space is now occupied by the backspace button. I like that fact that it has the 000 button. It saves me time when I am typing huge numbers. The backspace key is okay, but I don't like the placement. I guess that it's more of a personal preference, so some people might not have problems with it. It will take a few weeks, but I will get used to the key placement.
Price:
The price of the keypad is really cheap. If you look at the other products on amazon, they cost $8 more than this keypad. This also includes the 000 key, and a backspace button. I paid about $12 for the usb numeric keypad; the shipping was about $3. The usb numeric keypad is really cheap when you compare it to retail stores. Most retail stores sell these for about $30, and these are just the lowest costing keypads. They don't even included the 000 key, or the backspace key.

As a financial statement auditor this product looked perfect for fieldwork since both the mouse and 10-key used the same USB port. The product works wonderfully and doesn't have conflicts with my co-workers wireless mice. The only problem, which is somewhat significant is that the mouse uses two AAA batteries and I end up having to replace them every two to three weeks, which seems excessive. The 10-key runs on one AA battery and I have only had to replace it once in over a year so no problems there.
NOTE: I use this product about 30 hours a week on average

Adesso 19-Key Mobile USB Numeric Keypad with Retractable Cable ( AKP-150 ) Review

I purchased this keypad for the purpose of gaming and performing live electronic music, not data entry.
It just arrived today, I opened the box, plugged it in and popped up metapad to try it out. So far, I'm quite pleased. However, the pressure required to press the keys is about four times what is needed on a normal laptop keyboard, and about twice what is needed on my klunky, classic desktop keyboard.
That said, I still love it. I wouldn't want to spend 2 hours punching numbers into a spreadsheet with it, but I'm confident it will perform quite well for my intended purposes. But, I am hoping that it breaks in a bit with use. Also, the flat, ribbon style, retracting cable works like a charm, and it's exactly the size and weight I'd hoped (I'll post a customer picture soon).
This thing is going to be great plugged into my laptop at shows, and I'm looking forward to playing my favorite space sim with a joystick in each hand and this thing just in reach without a full keyboard in the way. =D

I use my notebook for accounting & my standard notebook keyboard doesn't have a number pad. This handy little device offers quick launch keys to your pc's calculator, excel, & the internet without any prior set-up. It has a place on the back to store its USB connector & has a great little pouch to protect it from dings & scratches. I highly recommend this product! It's a little pricey, but anyone who uses their number keys a lot will be glad they splurged!

(The item I am reviewing is Targus PAUK10U USB Keypad)
----------
This doesn't work with a mac unless...
Do exactly as I say and it will work fine:
1. When your Targus keypad is disconnected press and hold the Num Lock button.
2. Connect your Targus Keypad USB cable to your mac USB port (not a hub) while still pressing and holding the Num Lock key.
3. When the Num Lock green LED light goes on, wait for exactly at least three seconds (count 1, 2, 3) then release the Num Lock Key.
4. Now it shouldn't Beep and it will work fine in programs like Excel.
-----------
I am typing a bunch of numbers on it as a proof below:
123456789 0 000 . / * - +
It works smoothly.
-----------
I gave it three stars only for being such a hassle to use on macs when any stupid USB keyboard would just work.
I have a MacBook (latest intel black model) running mac OS X 10.5.6
-----------
I hope that was helpful.

I'm an accounting student who has to enter data for online class assignments... alot of data. My laptop doesn't have a keypad so I set out in search of the best one I could find and found it. I have to research everything I buy to make sure I get the highest quality for the lowest price. After reading all the reviews I could find, especially the negative ones, I settled on this iHome combo. I've had it 2 weeks and after 30 hours of assignments and extensively using the mouse, I don't have a single complaint. Mouse size is perfect (not too small), it has 2 extra programmable buttons and one to change sensitivity on the fly, as well as a dual scrolling wheel. Keypad is normal size, has quick launch keys for email internet and calculator (which I find myself using alot), has escape key, backspace, tab, numlock, and directional keys in addition to all the regular keys...it even looks nice! I've had no issues with distance and they both run off the single USB plug which is smaller than a USB flash drive. It even came with batteries! I bought it new from a retailer through amazon who had the wrong card number on file for my account. I immediately received and email from both amazon and the retailer, I gave them the right card number, and had my purchase within 3 days. I can be hard to please, but this was a great buy worth the price.

The 5-button laser mouse glides smoothly across your desktop surface using a1600 dpi high performance laser sensor. The wireless mouse works on most surfaces such as wood grain, frosted glass and others than optical mice cannot work on. Never run out of battery again, the low battery LED indicator will warn you when it's time to replace them. This unit is often advertised as MAC compatible. The paperwork said it was also. It's not. All kinds of goofy & entertaining things happen when plugged into a MAC, especially when using Excel for Mac or OSX's calculator. One of the function keys caused the thing to fill EVERY cell in a spreadsheet with zeros. (Thank goodness for Autosave) I tried many workarounds and tips from forums. None worked.
Other than that, it is an OK keypad, considering the low price. It worked fine on the few things I tried it on under Windows XP Pro. The display is very easy to read and the size is of the unit is fine with me. The keys feel OK to the touch and it doesn't miss strokes. But, the orange "On" key is in a stupid spot. This key is used often for switching modes. If this is your only numeric keypad, you would get used to it. Just as we are all used to telephone key pads being upside down- or is it upside up? Never thought about that, did you?- but it is intuitive. You can use a keypad all day, then pick up a phone & dial just fine without thinking. So, you probably would get used to the orange key in an odd spot.
I sent mine back and got a different brand, also not officially MAC compatible but with a simple work-around. (Targus Keypad-Calculator)
Bottom Line? Ignoring the whole MAC thing- For the price it is not great, not bad. Assuming it did work with MAC, I probably would be happy with it (unless the orange key thing kept driving me nuts.)
I hope this review is helpful for your decision.

Works great as a calculator; however.... I bought this for my stats class because everything has to be typed into word. There are all the standard math symbols of +, -, *, / but there is NO EQUAL sign! Sure you can hit enter to get the total. But entering in data I have to go back to the keyboard for an = sign. This is in every problem.
So, it works. Not what I hoped though. How can you forget the = sign for goodness sake!

Microsoft Bluetooth Wireless Number Pad Keypad Review

Microsoft Bluetooth Wireless Number Pad Keypad
Average Reviews:

I bought this after an exhaustive search for what you might think would be a popular item. I have a new, beautiful 27 inch iMac, but the bluetooth keyboard from Apple, and even the one from Logitech, lacks a number pad. Why this is so, when the previous generation of bluetooth Apple keyboards were full keyboards, and why Logitech can't make a bluetooth instead of only a USB version, I have no idea. But I use the number pad all the time and wanted a bluetooth version.
This one fits the bill. I would have to say that its color scheme fits the new iMacs better than the Apple keyboard (black instead of white). The item feels solid and the key action is similar to the Apple. It pairs with the iMac without difficulty. I take away one star simply because of its annoying property going to sleep every 15 minutes if not used. This means that when you first use it after that length of time it takes a few seconds to "wake up" and pair itself before the numbers you enter appear. Once you get used to this it is not a big deal.
Thanks, Microsoft, for providing this, and shame on Apple for making me put an item with a Microsoft logo in front of your otherwise outstanding system....

Average Reviews:

This is a great item. It combines the functions of a calculator and numeric keypad all in one. You don't to carry 2 of them anymore.
Pros:
The calculator works separately on battery and solar power. It connects easily (plug and play) to your PC. It has a Send button to send calculations to your computer. It has all the basic functions of a simple calculator. It also has a scroller so that you do not need to use a mouse. It also has Tab and Up/Down arrows which numeric keypads generally lack causing you to go back and forth between your laptop and keypad.
Downsides:
The buttons for the numbers are smaller and more closely spaced than a numeric keypad slowing the input down. If you're into speed-inputting then this product will not work for you. I didn't end up keeping the calculator because the On button wouldn't work so it didn't power on. I sent it back for another one and the 2nd one I got, a couple of the numbers on the keypad wouldn't work. Canon is usually more reliable. Could just be a fluke but I was disappointed.
