1. Looking for the 65K or more colorful display.
2. Looking for E-mail synchronization.
3. Looking for wireless connectivity or surfing the net.
4. And finally looking for MP3 playing or huge data storage etc.
That said, this product is VERY USEFUL for people, like me, who -
1. Do NOT want to spend a lot on features that we will rarely use.
2. Do NOT want to worry about charging their units every half a day so as to not lose data (this pda runs on 1 alkaline battery and hence, we just change it every month at the most).
3. Want to just get organized with their basic data such as contact numbers, addresses, emails, urls, memos, to-dos, anniversaries, reminders, expenses etc.
4. Want to use a very simple interface and yet have all the necessary stuff we need.
5. Do NOT care whether they input their data through graffiti or an on-screen keyboard (this PDA does not have graffiti or any hand-writing technology).
I like the touch sensitivity levels and the ease-of-use. It is very light-weight and very slim and small.

The Sharp Wizard OZ-590A Electronic Organizer is the perfect product for those looking for an affordable, functional organizer without the fancy colorful displays and features that are never used. The OZ-590A features 8 MB of memory that stores thousands of entries--and with three phonebooks, you can easily look up thousands of addresses and phone numbers. Information is displayed on the large 80 by 111 dot backlit display. In addition to the phone/address book, there is also a calendar, memo function, "to do" function, birthday/anniversary function, world clock, calculator with conversions, expense manager, alarm, and games. Earlier generations had greater capacity, durability, ease of use, and reliability. The programming for this product is inflexible, the data capacity is ridiculously low, it is physically flimsy and actually I went straight to the wastebasket with it. A total waste of money.

(More customer reviews)If you are looking for a small organizer to carry around, this is for you. It contains a scheduler, which is very easy to use. It also contains a phone directory, that allows you to store address, email and various other information, such as instant messenger id's. Also, included are a calculator, time information for various countries, a spelling assistant, English to Spanish and Spanish to English dictionaries,and finally a few basic games are also included. The translator is good, if you need some basic information, this will work for you, there were some words that I couldn't find, but when I put in basic requests, I was able to find the translation pretty easily. Overall, nice little organizer, have used all the functions, and they are easy to learn, and in no time you are able to navigate through all the various functions.

(More customer reviews)I started looking for an inexpensive PDA to help me remember appointments and daily work schedule stuff. I intended to buy either a Palm III or a Handspring Visor, figuring that [it] was a good price compared to all the other prices I'd seen. Thank goodness I searched the Internet. I came across the Royal daVinci and the PV-400Plus, both cost [the same]. I bought the daVinci, and like what it offers, despite a minor glitch it had. You can get an optional mini-keyboard, you can upload new features into it, and it syncs with MS Outlook. Then I found a local store that had the Casio and decided I'd compare them. The Casio is half as thin, doesn't have a mini-keyboard (yet), you can't load new features into it, but it comes with what I needed. The one-handed dial is a bonus for looking up something quickly, and its size makes it easier to find a wallet case for (it'll fit into almost any Palm case). It syncs perfectly with MS Outlook at the touch of a button, using 95/98/NT, whatever. It comes with everything you need right out of the box. I kept the Casio and took the daVinci back the next day, and I've been loving it every since. Several of my friends are now re-evaluating their PDA options. As long as you don't need a PDA you can connect to the Internet with, I highly recommend the PV-400Plus.

When I received the product, the front of the package states that it holds "addresses". On the back of the package, it states "email addresses". The product in fact DOES NOT store mailing addresses. I understand "you get what you pay for", but that shouldn't include false details!

(More customer reviews)This gadget might make a good toy for a child, but for anyone who needs a dependable organizer, I'd suggest looking elsewhere.
I know, I know, what did I expect for $10??? Well, I expected it to fulfill the functions listed in the product description; sadly, it does not. At first, nothing worked. After replacing the $4 battery and using the reset button *several* times, I was finally able to get about 90% of the functions to work - which is still not everything the product description promised.
Also, it's bulky, and has a cheap feel to it. The rubbery keys provide little tactile feedback to let you know if they've been properly pressed or not.
On the plus side, it is portable and it does have a multi-setting alarm (if you can get the AM/PM function to work, that is.) If all you're doing is setting casual reminders, you have a lot of flexibility time-wise, and you don't want to get a real PDA because you'd be out a lot of money if it gets damaged, this could be the perfect solution for you. Unfortunately, for me, it was not.

I didn't try the unit until after the return time had expired. Amazon may only be the middle man getting buyers and sellers together; but they should try to filter out sub par companies. I realize that this was not Costco where you can return anything when you are dissatisfied, but having such a short time is not appropriate. I will probably not buy anything through Amazon again.

Royal Excelsior 384kb memory touch sreeen organizer, 6-line backlit display, PC sync software Review

(More customer reviews)Just to make it clear for everyone, despite what the enclosure looks like, this thing is -nothing- like a palm, and doesn't even really fit in the same category.
For anyone who has seen those little cheap data organizers with the "chicklet" keypads and the 4-6 line text displays, that's what this is, repackaged into a prettier case and given a semi-touch screen rather than the keypad.
Immediately after taking it out of the package I had doubts - the screen (which is hidden behind a "demo sticker" before purchase) has visible lines running through it, the "wiring" for the touch screen. Bothered me at first, but I didn't notice it much after a little bit of use.
The touch-pad also took some getting used to - so they could save money on the display they have letters and numbers side-by-side under the same touch-sensitive area rather than pixelizing them and having them occupy the same space - as a result, you can hit numbers straight-on with your stylus and they work, but letters you have to hit just to the right of the letter. Much frustration ensued before I figured this out and I kept wondering why I kept getting I's when I was pressing O, etc.
It claims to be able to syncronize with Outlook 2000 but I have been unable to do so correctly - after several tries and experimentations I have so far only been able to sync my to-do list and memos - it won't sync calendar events or phone numbers at all. There don't appear to be any options in the sync software as far as what gets synced, and there was absolutely no documentation at all included with the software other than the "help" screens within the program.
I haven't tested functionality with the included PIM software - I suspect it would work better with it, but that's not what I bought it for. Without Outlook sync functionality it's basically useless to me.
Although I was pretty much expecting it with a digital organizer in this price category, the user interface I should mention is pretty non-intuitive as well. On calendar views, each date can have up to three dots next to it - one dot means a to-do item, another dot means an anniversary item, and yet another dot means a schedule item. You have to remember which dot means which. No matter what section you are in, you can only view one item at a time - you don't get a "list" of to-do items, for example, you have to go through them one at a time.
This thing might be OK for someone who doesn't use Outlook and doesn't have much data to go through every day or doesn't need any "at-a-glance" views, and you can get used to the quirky data entry system (I almost think sticking with the chicklet keys would work a lot better) - but pretty much anyone else needs to pass this one by and save up a little more cash towards a "real" PDA.

On top of the traditional organizer functions (phone book, memo, scheduler etc), it comes with a currency translator, handy web site addresses for travelers, mileage calculator, check book function, currency, and calories calculator. What I really like is the translator feature which can translate from English to Spanish and French. The key pad is also separately laid out which makes it easy to use it as a calculator.
