Canon P1-DHII Handheld/Portable Printing Calculator Review

Canon P1-DHII Handheld/Portable Printing Calculator

I recently bought this calculator. Does anybody out there know how to insert the paper into the miniscule space they give you. This is a worthless product and the manual is no help at all. It might even be a decent calculator but what good is it if you can't get the paper roll to insert into the thing. POS

Casio HR-8L Handheld Printing Calculator Review

I have now had this calculator for a year and don't have any complaints, keeping in mind that it is a small calculator, not a full-size one. I sometimes don't hit the keys correctly because they are fairly small, but that is the price for having a compact calculator, which is exactly what I needed. If you have the space for a full-size calculator and will be using it a lot, I would recommend getting something bigger. Otherwise, this is a very good choice. I use rechargeable NiMH AA batteries in it (it takes 4), and simply recharge them every 3-4 months or so as needed. I bought this to replace a very similar Casio which had given me about 15 years of good service until it stopped advancing the paper properly when printing. If this newer one gives me equally long service I will be very pleased.

Most printing calculators are small enough to be called portable, but few can boast the features and slimness of the Casio HR-8L handheld printing calculator. A tiny 1.5 by 3.6 by 7.5 inches, the HR-8L slips into a pocket, portfolio, or briefcase for computations anywhere you travel.
Nothing can protect your computations like a printing calculator. How many times have you added a list of numbers on a standard calculator only to loose your place or make an error in the middle of your figuring? The HR-8L has a 10-digit display screen for easy notations that also prints at speeds up to 1.6 lines per second. Perfect for calculations wherever you need them, the HR-8L has a full decimal system, including options for floating, fixed (0 to 3) with round-off, and cut-off modes.
With the Casio HR-8L, you can clear errors with a touch of the right shift key. The large display is not sacrificed in the small-sized case. A function command sign appears in the display to keep your place in your current calculation. Rely on independent memory in four keys, plus other functions like time calculations and a markup/markdown key. Tap the auto feed button to advance the paper roll. The dual paper roll system provides inner and outer rolls in a manageable 2.25-inch width.
The whole HR-8L unit is just 10.5 ounces. It's easy to use on a plane, at a restaurant table, or even at the home office. The HR-8L operates with the convenient portable power source of four AA batteries. --Barbara Price

It was impossible to insert the paper tape. The inside paper slot is badly designed, it is nearly invisible, the paper is too soft to be pushed into the slot, and there is no room for your fingers to guide the paper tape. Had to return product.

We bought the cash register from OfficeMax, not knowing they don't sell replacement ink rollers. Thanks to Amazon for being there. Rollers work great and last a very long time!

Casio DR-T120 Thermal Printing Calculator with 12-Digit Display Review

Casio DR-T120 Thermal Printing Calculator with 12-Digit Display

I was looking for a calculator that used thermal paper rolls, so that I would not have to continue replacing the ribbon as I did in my old calculator. This calculator fit the bill. The directions with it weren't the clearest in the world, but with a little help from my husband, I was able to set the time and date. Everything else is pretty much like a standard calculator.

The Casio DR-T120 calculator is a quiet one-color thermal printing model that fits well in busy offices. It has a 12-digit Digitron display and prints an impressive eight lines per second. In addition to the expected standard operations, the DR-T120 adds and subtracts by group and includes an independent add register; you can also round results up or down to a selected decimal setting. It is AC-powered for desktop use, and the built-in thermal paper rolls fit snugly inside a plastic casing--no bulky arms taking up extra space.

Canon PIDHV Printing Calculator (9493A001AC) Review

I purchased this calculator a week ago at Office Depot. I had a lot of difficulty loading the printer paper (just where exactly am I supposed to insert the paper?...) The most irritating thing for me about this calculator is that the decimal point is very tiny and tends to get lost (and hence very easy to overlook) among the otherwise large and very clear display numerals. Also the Print indicator is much too tiny for my liking.
As for the instructions - they left me wondering what Canon was thinking when they designed the layout of the instructions. The instructions begin with calculation examples, then explain what the different keys are used for. Next is the list of specifications. Then follow instructions for loading and replacing the batteries. At this point, if you're wondering how to load the paper, you'll find them on the backside of the instructions rather than toward the beginning of the instructions where you might logically expect them to be. As for loading the paper, it took me several guesses before I finally figured out exactly where to insert the paper. Otherwise, I basically like the features of the calculator except for, in my honest opinion, the inadequately tiny decimal point.
In summary, the seemingly illogical order in which the instructions are laid out, an unsatisfactory decimal point size, and the unnecessary difficulty in loading the paper detract from an otherwise easy to use compact calculator with a very clear display and a nice printout. In conclusion, I would suggest checking out other calculators before purchasing this one to make sure you're satisfied with all of its features.

I've owned several Casio calculators over the years and have been very pleased with all of them, this one included. I particularly like the size and the keypad has a nice feel (or touch) to it. I wanted something smaller, since I no longer have a home office. It's convenient to have the printing feature when I need it. The price was very reasonable. It has many "features", (although I will probably never use most of them) it's nice to know they are available. This product deserves a five star rating.
