(More customer reviews)I knew that I needed something to check my appliances and checked on quite a few watt meters, settling on the Watts Up Pro because of its logging capabilities. I had to download the manual (before buying) to make clear its recording capacity, which wasn't clear in the info. The logging will continue for as long as you want, but when it runs out of memory, it deletes every other log register and just continues, recording then based on a longer period between samples. This made it log my freezers usage over a 30 hour period to give a good idea of a monthly cost.
When I checked the power usage of my 40 year-old freezer, it didn't take me long to buy a new one! That thing was using over 300 Kwh/month! It really will open your eyes to what something uses in terms of cost! I even checked a string of those (old) miniature Christmas lights--like running two 100-watt light bulbs!
I'm very happy with this purchase. There was/is only one problem I've had with it: It did freeze up once (stopped logging), requiring rebooting, but has worked fine otherwise.

Watts Up PRO includes all the displays of the standard Watts up? meter but also comes with software and USB PC interface. The software automatically graphs all data and includes an integrated analysis tool, called the Payback Calculator, which automatically calculates the time required for a new energy efficient appliance to pay for itself. Monthly savings are calculated and then are compared to the purchase price of the new appliance.As a data logger, the PRO records all data into non-volatile (stored even if power is lost) memory. Over one thousand data points can be stored, starting with a sampling rate resolution of one second. The sample rate is user selectable or can be automatically set (resolution decreases over time) so years of usage can be accurately recorded. The included cable allows for USB port connection of a PC and when used with the included software, data can be quickly downloaded to a computer where the software creates a data table and easy to manipulate graphs. The data and graphs can than be exported to popular spreadsheet and word processor programs for further analysis. Note how the graph at the right identifies the defrost cycle on a refrigerator.Watts Up PRO also records any power interruptions, which is extremely handy when performing an audit of several devices. In addition, the Pro is capable of real time logging when used with the additional Real Time Software (not included). 120v 60hz.
