(More customer reviews)Office Depot 880 ranks among the simplest calculators I have ever used, offering nothing more than the basic functions needed to perform simple math. This bare- bones calculator is considered a desktop device but it is small enough to fit in the palm of your hand with a good stretch of the fingers. It is the type of calculator you turn to when you need to add up some numbers quickly and don't have a need to pull out the larger, bulkier, or more sophisticated devices.
This calculator has large buttons and pretty large display for easy reading. This is good for those with larger fingers and for those who have trouble reading a small display. The display tilts toward the user for easier viewing and the LCD panel holds eight digits so it is fine for most business uses. This means, of course, that it will only hold numbers less than $100 million. If a function is plugged into the calculator that exceeds this value, the display will show an error. It won't switch to scientific notation like some of the more sophisticated calculators. It will error- out.
Office Depot 880 calculator is battery and solar powered. The solar panel is small, but it is really all you need to power something this simple. The one I have has been using the same battery for years and I don't know if it will ever run out. The solar panel (and my limited amount of use) keeps it going strong.
There is no print function on this no- frills calculator. All you get is a device that performs the most basic mathematical functions. It is small, lightweight, easily portable, and will fit in a large coat pocket. Its thin design makes it easy to tuck away in a small space for future use.
Office Depot 880 is one of the least expensive calculators one can buy. It sells for a very low price- one that seems fair considering its limited use. It is definitely too simple for someone who needs a calculator with a little more functional ability but for basic needs, Office Depot 880 gets the job done. It's a no- frills calculator that is good for balancing check books, totaling a list of numbers (the addition key is the largest, since it is the most frequently used), or computing simple percentages or square roots. It cannot be used to solve a complex mathematical problem but for most business uses, it will suit consumers just fine.
